Italy vs Romania: Bet on EURO 2008 The second round of Group C Euro action resumes with Italy vs Romania and the Netherlands vs France. Italy was crushed 0-3 by the Dutch while France had a disappointing 0-0 draw against Romania. A Romania win or draw will all but shut down the Italians chances of a EURO Cup. Oddsmakers at SBGglobal.com have Italy as -155 moneyline favs over Romania +425 with a draw at +245. Get your Italy vs Romania: Bet on EURO 2008 Prediction in now at SBGglobal.com

The 0-3 defeat Italy suffered was the worst in 25 years of EURO play and they vow to turn around their game. One possible way to do this is to start Alessandro Del Piero and Antonio Cassano instead of bringing them in as substitutes, Italy showed more offense when these two were on the field. Coach Roberto Donadoni stated “We made too many mistakes against Holland, the second half was much better because Antonio and Alessandro gave a creative boost to the team.” Their midfield was made up of players from AC Milan, which finished a disappointing fifth in Serie A and dropped out of the Champions League early on this season. You can bet you’ll see a new midfield against Romania. Italy’s defense was in shambles without Captian Fabio Cannavaro in the lineup. The Dutch love the long ball, which the Romanians may deploy. Italy has to win or they may be heading home sooner than expected. Romania got a point from their draw against France, which is one more point that the Italians have.

Romania squeaked out a draw against a French side that was without their top two players, captain Patrick Vieira and striker Thierry Henry, they missed the match with thigh injuries. Romania fullback Cosmin Contra believes Italy's humiliating defeat to the Dutch and Romania's well earned scoreless draw against France has turned the pressure on the Italians to qualify from the tournament's most difficult group. “Italy are under pressure. They know that if they don't win against us, they probably go home early, so all the pressure is on the team of Italy. I think a lot depends on this game. If we draw or even win, then we have a really good chance to progress.” The Romanians will have to play very defensively and watch out for Alessandro Del Piero and Antonio Cassano. They will probably play offense the first half and try to bang in a goal then they’ll sit back ondefense the second half. Remember a draw or win could put them through. They’ll meet the Dutch in their final Group C match, they beat them in qualifying 1-0 and their other match against them ended in a 0-0 draw.

Head to Head: 14 matches played
  • Italy leads 10-2
  • 2 matches ended in draw
  • Italy scored 24 goals
  • Romania scored 10 goals
