Ghana vs, Australia 2010 World Cup Group D Odds: With a win over Australia at the 2010 World Cup, Ghana will put itself into position to advance to the final 16 when they play Australia at Rustenburg Saturday. With Germany's loss to Serbia on Friday, Ghana is the only side left in Group D without a bad result.
The Bodog.com World Cup betting line lists Ghana the favorite by -110 moneyline odds while Australia backers are getting +300. Those betting for a DRAW are getting +225 odds.
Ghana is in great form to move on and has done it without star midfielder Michael Essien who has missed play due to injury. However, players have stepped up like Asamoah Gyan who scored a goal in the 84th minute on a penalty kick to defeat Serbia in their first game. Andrew Ayew proved Ghana was ok without Essien and will be in the lineup for their match with Australia.
If Ghana defeats Australia they will probably reach the final 16 coming out of Group D for the second consecutive time, last reaching the round of 16 in 2006.
Australia was terrible in their opening match losing 4-0 to Germany on Sunday where the Socceroos were outclassed in all phases of the game allowing the Germans to score twice in each half.
"It was not an easy game for us," coach Pim Verbeek said. "We tried to make it very difficult for them and use our speed, but we didn't have the ball in the first 20 minutes."
Another loss by Australia will virtually give the side no chance of advancing. With a win over favorite Ghana, Australia would still have a chance.
Ghana is the pick for this game.
