Team USA hosts defending champions Mexico when the two sides vie in the CONCACAF Gold Cup Soccer Final at Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, Calif., tonight with a 9 pm ET start time. The Americans redeemed themselves in the semi-finals topping Panama, the only side to whip USA in the tournament in an earlier round. Mexico had to go into extra time to defeat an ambitious Honduras side in the semi's. Now it's all set. A dream matchup between Mexico and USA on America's home turf. But like in the past, Mexico backers always show up strong; especially in Southern California.
USA and Mexico have gone head to head in the last two Gold Cup tournament finals splitting the result 1-1. Team USA will be out for revenge after its crushing 5-0 defeat in Mexico two years ago. Four years ago in the US, the Americans pulled out a win against the favored Mexican side.
Today's match between USA and Mexico is lined a PICK across the offshore soccer board with Mexico a slight +135 favorite on the CONCACAF moneyline. Team USA backers will be getting +185 CONCACAF Gold Cup Odds with A 2-GOAL total. Those betting for a DRAW will be getting +220 odds.
Soccer pundits, in this hemisphere anyway, consider Mexico to be the cream of the crop of all CONCAF sides and should be a goal favorite. There's no doubt that sportsbooks are trying to draw out American bettors who are unknowledgable about Mexico's strengths. Speaking of strength's; It's a miracle that today's final isn't between Mexico and Panama. The Panamanians exposed several weaknesses in Team USA in both their matches and by sheer luck, for the American's, won the semifinals.
