Okocha signs for Hull

by Alexander Banks on Tuesday, September 4th, 2007

Okocha signs for Hull Nigeria international Jay-Jay Okocha has completed his move to Coca-Cola Championship side Hull.

The 34-year-old, who has been without a club since leaving Qatar SC, will once again work under Phil Brown, who was the assistant manager at Bolton, where he had a successful four-year spell before leaving last year. SBG Global has made Bolton +5000 odds to win the English Premier League 2007-2008.

After his side went down 2-1 at Blackpool on Monday night, Brown said: "He is the sort of player who will give us the creativity we need in midfield."

Elsewhere, Bolton striker Heidar Helguson is set to be sidelined for up to seven weeks after undergoing ankle surgery. The Iceland international has started one match for Wanderers and been a substitute in two more since joining the club from Fulham this summer, scoring in the 2-1 defeat against his old team last month.

Jamaican utility player Ricardo Gardner is now back in full training while Joey O'Brien played 90 minutes for the reserves on Monday
