Spurs boss Martin Jol says he has the full support of chairman Daniel Levy after the disappointing 1-1 draw against Bolton at the weekend. SportsBetting.com has Tottenham Hotspur at 200 to 1 odds to win the English Premiership. The Dutchman´s expensively assembled team have recorded only one win in seven Barclays Premier League games and Jol is under pressure to reverse that form with increasing reports that Jose Mourinho has been primed to take over at White Hart Lane after his high profile departure from Chelsea. Jol commented: "My chairman (Daniel Levy) phoned me to say it was rubbish and hoped that I would be with him next year. He is always good to me, always backing me." Spurs were in front against Bolton after a great opening goal from Robbie Keane after 33 minutes. Unfortunately for Spurs, Ivan Campo to equalised shortly afterwards. Keane partnered striker Dimitar Berbatov which was a surprise due to Jermain Defoe´s scintillating display in Uefa Cup action during the week. Defoe netted twice in the 6-1 thrashing of Anorthosis Famagusta on Thursday. Jol defended his decision to omit the in-form Defoe, citing the fact that he needs to add more to his all round game than just goals. Speaking earlier today the Spurs boss commented: "Jermain did score in the cup but so did Robbie and Darren Bent. I do not just look at who's scoring. I look at leadership as well. You need players who lead the pack and Keane is an important player for us. He also got another goal." The point helped move Bolton off the bottom of the table on goal difference from Derby. Trotters boss Sammy Lee praised the efforts of Campo, who made his seasonal debut in the game. "Ivan gave the supporters a lift and gave me a lift as well when he scored that goal. He's a proud guy, a great professional and I have nothing but respect for him. We need all our players with the number of competitions we are in,” said Lee. SportsBetting.com has posted European Football betting odds to win the English Premiership: Arsenal: 11 - 4 Chelsea: 7 - 2 Everton: 300 - 1 Liverpool: 3 - 1 Manchester City: 100 - 1 Manchester United: 3 - 2 Newcastle United: 250 - 1 Tottenham Hotspur: 200 - 1 |
