Soccer Betting: Some truth in Jol rumoursSpurs chairman Daniel Levy concedes there is some truth behind concerns surrounding Martin Jol's position at the club but insists he has the squad and support of the boardroom.

Tottenham are priced at 2.00 with Sportsbook.com to beat Aston Villa this weekend.

Jol's job at White Hart Lane was thrown into question when club officials arranged a clandestine meeting with Sevilla coach Juande Ramos af ter Spurs'
poor Premiership start.

However an egg-faced Levy has since publicly backed Jol.

Speaking on a Setanta Sports TV show Levy said: "Obviously with any speculation sometimes there's an element of truth, but there has been a lot of stuff that's been written in the papers which has just been completely untrue."

High hopes of competing for a Champions League place came after shelling out more than £30million over the summer on Younes Kaboul, Kevin-Prince Boateng, Darren Bent and Gareth Bale.

The big Dutchman is satisfied with the development of his young signings yet Tottenham have only one league win for their efforts.

"I think it's inevitable with the quality of players we have in this squad that when we're not performing on the pitch there's bound to be speculation," added Levy.
"I've made it very clear that I very much want Martin to succeed, Martin is fully aware of our ambition, he also has got ambition, he just needs to get the results. I think we're all fairly thick-skinned if I'm honest, I just think Martin and the players need to ignore the outside pressure and just win, and that's what it's all about."

Captain Ledley King's absence as he recovers from knee surgery is one factor for Spurs' poor form, but Jol refuses to rush him back.

Jol does not want to set a comeback date for the defender after last season when the 26-year-old's feet problems dragged on for longer than expected.

"He is progressing," said Jol. "I cannot push him. He is not doing everything (in training). He is not doing the overloading, the one-v-ones, the sprints. He is doing the normal work."
