The defending Champs are out of the German Cup. Nuremberg was eliminated by second-division Carl Zeiss Jena in the second round of the German Cup on Wednesday. Nuremberg led twice in the game but was tied both times. They lost the penalty shootout 5-4.
Last season's German Cup runner-up Stuttgart advanced as they got a goal by Mario Gomez late in extra time against Paderborn. Stuttgart had blown a two goal lead and needed the heroics from Gomez. In other action, Luca Toni scored two goals in the second half as Bundesliga leader Bayern Munich beat Borussia Moenchengladbach by a score of 3-1. Toni scored in the 47th minute and scored 10 minutes late for his second goal of the game. Marcel Ndjeng scored to cut the lead to 2-1 but Miroslav Klose put the game away with a goal in the 83rd minute.
