Striker Wayne Rooney has been ruled out for four weeks after sustaining an ankle injury in training. That´s a blow for the Red Devils who are trading at 5 to 4 with Bodog to win the Premiership.

The Manchester United hit man left Carrington training ground on crutches and will miss Sunday's Barclays Premier League clash with Blackburn. The Liverpool born player is expected to miss United´s remaining two group matches in the Champions League.

Rooney will be unavailable for England's upcoming friendly with Austria that takes place next week and also the crucial Euro 2008 qualifier against Croatia at Wembley on November 21. England coach Steve McClaren is now left scratching his head. McLaren had only just named Rooney in his squad and commented on the news with a downbeat demeanour.  "It is hugely disappointing for us and him," he said.

"Given the form he has been in and the contribution he has made to England over the last two games means it is a blow.

"But we have to deal with it, like we have dealt with situations like these before.

"It is an opportunity for someone else to come and do a job."

England can be backed at 20 to 1 to win Euro 2008 such is the general pessimism about their chances.
