Capello was surprisingly sacked by Madrid despite leading the Spanish giants to the Primera Liga crown earlier this year. He confirmed he would be interested in succeeding the sacked Steve McClaren after England´s failure to qualify for Euro 2008. During Wednesday's qualifying game between Italy and the Faroe Islands for Italian TV channel Rai, Capello commented: "Me to coach England? It would be a challenge, a beautiful test to overcome and I would have the right age." The 61-year-old has managed AC Milan, Juventus and Roma. He was also linked with a move to Tottenham but Spurs appointed Spanish coach Juande Ramos. Another candidate Martin O'Neill says he is "committed" to Aston Villa after he emerged as an early favourite to succeed McClaren. He says reports linking him to the national post are "absolute nonsense." The Irishmanwas a candidate after Sven-Goran Eriksson's departure in the summer of 2006: "It is absolute nonsense. I am committed to Aston Villa. I cannot end speculation. I have had it for years and years and years, no matter what you say. "I have a big commitment to Aston Villa. It is as simple as that." Former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, Portuguese coach Luiz Felipe Scolari and Russia coach Guus Hiddink are other names being linked to the post.
Former Real Madrid boss Fabio Capello says he would jump at the challenge of coaching England.
