Blackburn boss Mark Hughes has refused to rule out the possibility of a return to international football despite signing a new two-and-a-half-year contract at Ewood Park on Friday.
Former Wales coach Hughes is also believed to be in the running for the England job. Sparky – as he is known to his former playing colleagues – has agreed an improved deal which will take him up to 2010 with the option of a 12-month rolling agreement after that expires. Hughes said: "At some point in my career I'd like to try international management again – possibly when I'm older and greyer than I already am – but I'm not anticipating getting a call from the FA." Hughes's new contract will please Rovers fans who have seen a steady improvement during his three-year reign. Rovers drew 2-2 against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday. Hughes added: "I'm delighted. We've been talking for a matter of weeks and we've been able to agree on the terms of the contract. I feel there is more work to do here. "First and foremost my job is to get results and I feel I've done that and the club itself has moved forward as well. I'm excited with what's ahead of us and there's more to come from this squad of players."
