Manchester United supremo Sir Alex Ferguson has been charged by the Football Association following his verbal, finger-jabbing attack on referee Mark Clattenburg at the Reebok Stadium on Saturday.

United are currently trading at 6/1 with Bodog to win this season´s Champions League.

Ferguson, never shy to express his opinions, is no stranger to FA charges. Amongst players the United manager is known as the "hairdryer" due to his famous dressing room tongue-lashings at under-performing professionals.

Ferguson was banished from the touchline by Clattenburg following his half-time tirade during United's 1-0 defeat at Bolton, when the Scot told the official "exactly what he thought of him".

Clattenburg gave his own version of the incident in his report of the game. The report which was examined by the Soho Square (FA headquarters) disciplinary panel this week.

It isnt the first time Ferguson has been called to answer the charge of "using abusive and insulting words towards an official".

The Scot has until December 11 to respond and is facing a fine and maybe even a touchline ban if proved guilty.
