A.S. Roma to host Real Madrid in UEFA Champions League Knock out round

by Thomas Jensen on Sunday, January 6th, 2008

The Stadio Olimpico in Rome, Italy will be home to A.S. Roma once again on Tuesday, February 19th for the first leg of the UEFA Champions League Knock out round. Roma will host the Spanish Real Madrid in a match up that has occurred four times in the last seven seasons with the Merengues winning 4 of their last 6 games disputed.

BodogLife.com has posted both teams, Real Madrid and A.S. Roma at an even +160 a piece with a +220 as the draw line.

Real Madrid has won 20 of its last 25 matches against teams from Italian Serie A and demonstrate a renewed confidence in their squad under new head coach German Bernd Schuster. This is a contrast to their shaky start at the start of the season but walking into a Stadio Olimpico could prove to be a tougher venue to gain an easy win in then they could think.

Francesco Totti, Italian striker for A.S. Roma will look to team up with Brazilian forward Mancini and Italian Midfielder Simone Perrotta in order to punch a goal through Madrid’s top ranked defense with players like Michel Salgado and Sergio Ramos defending the pitch.

The draw line looks tempting at +220 and either could win but the home team seems a little weak in comparison to the Spaniard squad. Take Real Madrid or a draw or both as long as Roma doesn’t win. Good Luck
