Argentinean Classic for Summer Tourney 2007: Boca v River Plate

by Thomas Jensen on Saturday, January 20th, 2007

Argentinean Classic for Summer Tourney 2007: Boca v River PlateBringing their best, River and Boca will play the first Summer Super Classic of 2007 at Mar del Plata with their star formations in a match for the five team summer tourney.

River Plate and Boca Juniors will square off Saturday at 22.10 (8:10 p.m. EST) at José María Minella Stadium. The game will be officiated by the international Referee Héctor Baldassi and the main attraction to this game is most definitely the fact that they will initiate most of their starters in order to win this match.

I had to go outside of our sponsors to get this line but I obtained a +240 for Boca, +325 for the draw and +260 for River Plate.

As is customary to these games, the demand for tickets was greater than the offer and quickly, in only two hours, the fans of both sides had exhausted all general public entries to the game placed for sale.

River remains unbeaten in this summer tournament with one win and one draw and if they are able to pull an upset of their classic rival with win on Saturday, they will move to the undisputed top of the summer tourney chart. Bet on River Plate v Boca Juniors at Nine.com and receive a cash bonus!

Regarding the starting line up, Coach Daniel Passarella will begin with most of his starters and the only question presented to the conductor of the “Millionaires” is if the right side midfield should be covered by Paulo Ferrari or Diego Galvan.

In regards to the team that tied with San Lorenzo there will be 5 modifications: Nicolás Domingo for Jesús Méndez, Víctor Zapata for Matías Oyola, Fernando Belluschi for René Lima, Radamel Falcao García for Gastón Fernández and Ferrari for Galván por Augusto Fernández.

On the other side, Miguel Angel Russo’s Boca did not start 2007 in the best way. They lost against Independiente on their debut as the strategist Leandro Gracián will finally not return to Argentina to defend the yellow-blue since Boca directives were not able to come to an agreement with Mexican Monterrey.

What does look very possible is the arrival of young Columbian star Juan Pablo Pino who is shining in the South American Under 20 tournament being held in Paraguay.

For the Super Classic Russo will align his best team. That means Aldo Bobadilla, Hugo Ibarra, Daniel Díaz, Claudio Morel Rodríguez, Pablo Ledesma, Neri Cardozo, Rodrigo Palacio, Guillermo Barros Schelotto y Martín Palermo Hill return to the main squad after being absent for the loss served by the team from Avellaneda.

Probable Formations:

RIVER: Juan Pablo Carrizo; Eduardo Tuzzio, Federico Lussenhoff, Nelson Rivas, Cristian Villagra; Palo Ferrari o Diego Galván, Nicolás Domingo, Fernando Belluschi, Víctor Zapata; Radamel Falcao García y Ernesto Farías.

Coach: Daniel Passarella.

BOCA: Aldo Bobadilla; Hugo Ibarra, Matías Silvestre, Daniel Díaz, Claudio Morel Rodríguez; Pablo Ledesma, Sebastían Battaglia, Neri Cardozo; Guillermo Barros Schelotto, Rodrigo Palacio y Martin Palermo.

Coach: Miguel Angel Russo.

This interesting match between two of Argentina’s powerhouses will be played with heart and soul. I am inclined to take Boca since I am something of a fan, at +240 with a +325 draw. I’m on both of these wagers and hope River doesn’t win.
