Barcelona have set their sights on a swoop for Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard and many experts believe the player will start next season at Camp Nou. BetUS.com has Chelsea as the favorites at +135 odds to win the 2007/08 Barclays Premiership.
Lampard is reportedly seeking pay parity with Chelsea's £130,000-a-week top earners Michael Ballack and Andrei Shevchenko, but Blues owner Roman Abramovich wants to keep a lid on future pay increases.
However, Frank Lampard is still hopeful that a compromise can be reached and Coral's odds of 2-5 about him staying at Stamford Bridge suggest that Barca's overtures could be in vain.
Coral spokesman David Stevens said: “He has had talks with Chelsea about a new contract, and we can't imagine they would be willing to let him go to one of their biggest European rivals without strong resistance.”
Southampton have completed the permanent signing of Polish striker Marek Saganowski from Troyes.
Saints have paid £680,000 for Sagnowski, who scored ten goals in 13 appearances during a loan spell last season.
