Key Euro 2008 Qualifiers on SaturdayThe fate of Italy, England and France could be decided on Saturday as Euro 2008 Qualifying matches continue.  Israel is hosting Russia in a game that could determine England’s fate and Italy is at Scotland with the winner moving on.

Russia is in control of their own destiny as a win at Israel would basically put them in as they host a weak Andorra team in their last match. A Russia win would also virtually eliminate England from Euro 2008.  A loss by Russia would open the door for England as they would just need a win or a draw next week against Croatia to advance. SBG Global reports that early Soccer betting has the public taking Russia on the Road.

SBG Global Current Line:  Russia -1 (-120), Israel +1 (-110), Total 2.5 under -150

Money Line:  Russia -200, Israel +450, Draw +250

The other key match on Saturday has Scotland hosting Italy.  Scotland has not made it into a major championship in nearly 10 years but with a win over Italy they would advance from Group B.  Coach Alex McLeish knows that the game against Italy is one of the biggest in history for his squad.  A draw would probably eliminate Scotland since France would be favored to beat Ukraine next week. "The players are refreshingly confident and have great self belief in their abilities. They have a swagger and there's a cutting edge about them," said McLeish.

SBG Global Current Line:  Italy - ½ (Even), Scotland +½ (-130), Total 2 over -130

Money line:  Italy even, Scotland +250, Draw +210

“We have a wonderful opportunity. Nobody gave us a prayer of being in this position. Now that we're in it, everybody expects us to win and take care of it against the world champions. That's the expectation level.” McLeish said.

Italy only needs a draw in the game to qualify.

Some of the bigger name teams that have qualified thus far are Croatia, the Czech Republic, Germany and Greece.  Portugal, Spain, the Netherlands and Sweden still have work to do. Spain just needs a win at home against Sweden to advance.  Sweden could also advance if they win or if Northern Ireland and Denmark play to a draw.  Poland can advance with a win over Belgium.  Romania has qualified from Group G while the Netherland can advance with a win over Luxembourg and a Romania win over Bulgaria.
