Two teams looking to overcome disappointing results against D.C. United in their last game face off at Gillette Stadium tonight (7:00 pm Eastern) when the Los Angeles Galaxy make their lone trip to meet the New England Revolution. The Revolution are still at the top of the Eastern Conference, but saw their five-game unbeaten run put to an end last Sunday in a 3-0 home loss to D.C. The Galaxy were on the second game of their tour of the East on MLS Primetime Thursday, and fell 1-0 to United at RFK Stadium as David Beckham made his MLS debut.
New England are home favorites at -140, and Los Angeles is set at +375. A draw comes in at +220. Los Angeles fell 1-0 at D.C. United in their previous fixture. New England comes off a 0-3 result in their last outing against D.C. United. The Revolution were favored in that contest with a moneyline of -120 and the 3 goals sent OVER bettors home happy. New England won 3-2 at Los Angeles in their last meeting.
This is the second of two meetings between the teams this season, the only one set for Gillette Stadium. The Revolution won the first meeting 3-2 on May 12 at the Galaxy home pitch at the Home Depot Center.
A year ago, after the teams had played in the 2005 MLS Cup Final and the Galaxy won in extra time, the Revolution claimed both meetings without allowing a goal, winning in Carson in the season opener then in New England just more than a month later.
It is unlikely fans will see David Beckham in the game today due to swelling in his injured ankle. Beckham aggravated his injured left ankle earlier this week and will be a game-time decision when the Los Angeles Galaxy play the New England Revolution on Sunday.
"My ankle flared up a bit after the game the other day, and it's swollen up a little bit from flying," Beckham said. "We'll have to see how it is. It was fine running out there a little bit, but that's all I really tried on the field."
