Martin O'Neill has promised to bring in several more new signings to Aston Villa after the £8.5million transfer of Nigel Reo-Coker from West Ham. BetUS.com has given Aston Villas +25000 odds to win the 2007/08 Barclays Premiership
"We're still light on numbers. We'd like to add some players and we're definitely going to try to strengthen," said O'Neill. "I can't say I'm in the throes of signing someone in the next 24 hours but we have a number of things on the go. Now the Reo-Coker transfer has been done and dusted I can push it to the side and push on with other possible targets. I now want to put all my energy into getting other new players. We would ideally be wanting to start the season with as strong a squad as possible.”
Midfielder Reo-Coker was Martin O'Neill's first piece of business in the summer window but he needs to draft in additional players after the departure of Gavin McCann, Aaron Hughes, Steven Davis, Jlloyd Samuel and the retirement of Chris Sutton.
O'Neill spoke with club owner Randy Lerner this week and the American is willing to bankroll O'Neill's plans to the tune of £30million. The manager has lined up Jermain Defoe, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Jussi Jaaskelainen, Jason Koumas and Alan Smith as potential targets.
