Porto FC odds to win the UEFA Champions LeagueWason Renteria leads Portuguese Porto FC into the UEFA Champions League tournament. Bodog.com has Porto FC 70 to 1 (Bet $1.00 to win $70.00) to win the UEFA Champions League. Futebol Clube do Porto short: FC Porto or FCP is a Portuguese sports club best known for its football section. It was founded in the northern city of Porto on September 28, 1893, by wine-salesman António Nicolau de Almeida who had his first contact with the game of football on one of his trips to England.

The club was revived in 1906 by Monteiro da Costa. The club's current football home ground is the Estádio do Dragão which was built as a venue for the Euro 2004 and was inaugurated on November 16, 2003, replacing the 51 year-old Estádio das Antas.

FC Porto is, along with Sporting Clube de Portugal and SL Benfica, one of the "Big Three" clubs in Portugal. The club holds the best international record by a Portuguese team having won the European Cup two times (1987, 2004) as well as the Intercontinental Cup (1988, 2004).

In 2003, it brought Portugal's first UEFA Cup. It was the first team since the Liverpool 76-77 squad to win the European Cup after winning the UEFA Cup. As for the internal record, it holds the second best record (behind rivals Benfica). FC Porto played in the Portuguese championship 72 times, playing 1988 games, winning 1287, drawing 369, losing 332, scoring 4427 goals and conceding 1876, having 3204 points as of the end of the 2005-06 season.

The club's supporters and players are named portistas but are often called tripeiros (English: bowel eaters). In the past the term Andrades was also used, after a family with this name sponsored the club for several years. However, since the 1980s, it is seen as somewhat derogatory by supporters.

Recently they acquired Wason Renteria, a Colombian football striker. He is known for his great power game, his ability and technique. His height of 1.86 meters (6’2½) makes him extremely dangerous in the aerial game. His past clubs include Patriotas de Boyacá and Chicó where he made his professional debut in 2004.

Rentería was part of the Colombian national team that took part in the FIFA World Youth Championship in 2005, impressing many with their array of talent and fluid football. Colombia ended up in first place in the regional qualifiers for the World Cup, but lost in the second round of the main event to eventual winners Argentina.

After drawing interest from several clubs across the globe after his performances with the Colombian Under 20 side, Renteria was transferred to Internacional de Porto Alegre in Brasil. At Inter, Renteria immediately showed his flair for the dramatic by coming off the bench to score goals in a series of pivotal situations. His first highlight was the sub goal that qualified Inter into the Copa Libertadores (South American Champions League), which the south Brazilian side would eventually win.

Renteria took advantage of Inter's busy cup calendar to become the starter on the mixed side they sent to play in the domestic league and established himself as a presence on their Libertadores’ side, becoming the top scorer in their championship run despite coming off the bench.

On April 27, 2006, playing away in Montevideo, he scored the deciding goal against Club Nacional de Football in the Copa Libertadores de América, to earn Inter's spot in the Quarterfinals. In a magical piece of skill, Renteria tapped the ball over an oncoming defenders head (a play called “el sombrero” hat in English) with his right foot and first timed it past the helpless goalkeeper with his left foot. He would later score a fantastic goal against LDU in the Copa Libertadores de América, lobbing the keeper on one of his touches on the pitch after coming on late as a sub.

Despite playing as back up to the popular Rafael Sobis, Rentería quickly became a fan favorite in Internacional because of the nerve he demonstrated scoring goals in key moments, as well as the energetic and irreverent celebrations he performed every time he scored a goal.

He developed cult status for his "ruque raque" dance celebration and later captured the hearts of the Inter fans by emulating the club's mascot in celebrations. Unfortunately, his great run of form was cut off by a run of nagging injuries that kept him out of Inter's starting eleven after the Copa.

He just recently signed for FC Porto in the January transfer window and is their hope for a surprise Cinderella story.
