Big spending Manchester United, fresh from their 2006/7 Premiership success, can be reliably backed to follow up that by winning next season’s 2007/8 title.
The bookmakers don’t quite see it that way with Chelsea and United both quoted at identical odds of +150 at Bodog.com but the tipping experts at Point-Spreads.com are baffled at how the bookies give Jose Mourinho´s team an equal chance.
True, Chelsea beat United in the recent FA Cup final, but that was a one-off game, over the course of a whole season it will be a different matter.
Hargreaves, signed from Bayern Munich for 17 million GBP, will add composure and class to the Red Devils´ midfield and 19 year old Brazillian, Anderson, is described as having acceleration “faster than the Millennium Falcon”.Portuguese 21 year old Nani, who plays attacking midfield, has the potential to form a devastating partnership with fellow country man Cristiano Ronaldo and the ever present Wayne Rooney adds further firepower.
With such huge attacking options it is clear that United will score plenty of goals next season and over the course of 38 matches it is frightening to think of the damage this young, fast team will inflict on other Premiership defences.
There is even talk of Ferguson adding Bolton´s prolific striker Nicolas Anelka to his summer transfer spree. Not that United need him but his addition really would be the icing on what is already a very mouth-watering cake.
