Australian Open 2010: Russian star Svetlana Kuznetsova will take on fellow countrywoman Anatasia Pavlyuchenkova today in the second round of the Australian Open. Both women won their first round matches in straight sets to advance to this evening's meeting at Rod Laver Arena. Their match is scheduled to get underway at 7:00pm ET. Svetlana Kuznetsova began her ninth Australian Open in the fashion one would expect from the world's third ranked 
women's singles player, she destoryed Anastasia Rodionova 6-1, 6-2. Kuznetsova, who has advanced to at least the third round in her last six appearances in Melbourne, came into the event with a 1-1 match record this year after falling to Dominika Cibulkova in Sydney.
The 24 year old St. Petersburg native reached the quarterfinals at last year's Open, matching her best finish at Melbourne. Kuznetsova, who is participating in her 31st major, has two Grand Slam titles (2004 U.S. Open, 2009 French Open) and 338 match wins to her credit.
Eighteen year old Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova reached the second round at Melbourne in her second ever Australian Open appearance by beating Latvian Anastasija Sevastova 6-2, 6-4 on Sunday. The win improved her match record to 4-2 this year as she competed both at Brisbane (lost in third round) and Sydney (lost in second round) in early January.
Pavlyuchenkova, who is ranked 39th in women's singles by the WTA, is playing in just her ninth Grand Slam event. She reached the third round at Wimbledon in 2008 and in last year's French Open.
Kuznetsova and Pavlyuchenkova met in the quaterfinals at Beijing in 2009 where the former scored a straight sets 6-3, 6-3 victory.
