2010 Australian Open Betting Odds: With the Australian Open still engaged in the first two rounds of action, online sportsbook BetUS.com has released betting odds on the Big 2 vs The Field. In other words, online bettors can wager on Nadal and Federer as a pair or the rest of the field to win the 2010 Australian Open. 2010 Australian Open Betting Odds: Field vs Nadal & Federer at the bookmaker presently has the Field listed as a -140 moneyline favorite.

Roger Federer won his first Grand Slam at Wimbledon in 2003. Since that landmark victory, the Swiss native has gone on to2010 Australian Open Betting Odds: Field vs Nadal & Federer win 14 Grand Slams, including three of the last six Australian Opens. Rafael Nadal won his first major in 2005 at the French Open; he has won five majors since then, his latest being the 2008 Aussie Open. Since Federer's first major title, the two players have appeared in 43 Grand Slam events and won 21 of them. They have also combined to finish runner-up another eight times between the four majors.

Doing the math, one of these two players seems like a pretty safe bet to capture the title at Melbourne this year, especially at +100 odds. They have combined to win 49 percent of the last 43 Grand Slams and at least one of them, often both, has reached the final 67 percent of the time during that stretch.

While the field is immense, the most likely candidates to challenge Federer and Nadal would appear to be Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, Andy Roddick, Juan Martin Del Potro, Fernando Verdasco, Fernando Gonzalez and Nikolay Davydenko. Verdasco and Davydenko are in the same bracket as Federer, but they would not meet him unless two of the three advanced to the quarterfinals; only Murray would see Nadal prior to the semi-finals.

Of the seven contenders mentioned, only Djokovic, Roddick, and Del Potro have won a major, and only Djokovic, among those three, has won the Australian Open. Additionally, Nadal and Federer have a combined 117-39 match record against the seven players listed.
