Twenty-one year old Croatian Marin Cilic reached the quarterfinal round for a second consecutive major after upsetting fourth seeded Juan Martin Del Porto over the weekend. Cilic topped the Argentine in five sets 5-7, 6-4, 7-5, 5-7, 6-3 after serving 20 aces and slamming home 67 winners.
The 6' 6" Monte Carlo resident, who won the Aircel Chennai Open in India prior to his arrival in Melbourne, has never made it past the quarterfinals in 11 Grand Slam appearances.
Cilic and Roddick spilt their two previous meetings with the American taking home a straight sets win in 2007 in London and the Croatian doing likewise in a 2008 match in Canada.
