Nikolay Davydenko brought his 2010 record to a perfect 9-0 on Monday as he survived a five set grinder with Spaniard Fernando Verdasco. Davydenko won the match 6-2, 7-5, 4-6, 6-7, 6-3 thanks in large part to 81 unforced errors and 20 double faults on the part of the ninth ranked Verdasco. The 28 year old Volgograd resident committed 51 unforced errors of his own, which he softened some with 37 winners.
Tonight will mark the 15th meeting between Federer and Davydenko. Federer has dominated their exchanges, boasting a 12-2 record; however, Davydenko has won the last two matches, including a straight sets victory at the Qatar ExxonMobil Open in Doha earlier this month.
