Rafael Nadal. Murray won the first two sets of the match 6-3, 7-6 and was up 3-0 in the third set when Nadal retired due to an injured knee. The 22 year old Murray had dominated things up to that point, serving 13 aces and pounding 38 winners (23 Nadal).
Murray, who has advanced past the semifinals just one time at a major, has dispatched every opponent in the Open in straight sets.
Marin Cilic improved his 2010 record to 10-0 on Tuesday with a five set 7-6, 6-3, 3-6, 2-6, 6-3 win over seventh seeded American Andy Roddick. Cilic, who ousted the fourth ranked Juan Martin Del Potro in the fourth round in five sets as well, scored 20 aces to Roddick's 15 and he had 16 more winners than did the Nebraska native.
Tomorrow's match will mark the fifth time that Cilic and Murray have met on the court. Murray has a 3-1 record against the Croatian, but the 21 year old Cilic bested Murray in their last meeting 7-5, 6-2, 6-2, which came in the fourth round of the 2009 U.S. Open.
