2010 Australian Open Men's Final Odds, Picks & Predictions: Roger Federer and Andy Murray will meet for the second time in a Grand Slam final when they take the court tomorrow morning at Rod Laver Arena. Federer, who bested Murray in straight sets 6-2, 7-5, 6-2 at the 2008 U.S. Open final, will look to do it again when the match gets underway at 3:30am ET on ESPN 2. Murray, on the other hand, will attempt to end Great Britian's 74 year Grand Slam title drought. 2010 Australian Open Men's Final Odds, Picks & Predictions at online sportsbook BetUS.com have Federer listed as a -160 moneyline favorite to win his 16th major.
Roger Federer made quick work of 10th ranked Jo-Wilfried Tsonga on Thursday, thrashing the Frenchman in straight sets
6-2, 6-3, 6-2 in the men's semifinals. Federer, who reached the finals for the 21st time in the last 25 Grand Slams by beating Tsonga, had 33 winners and 13 unforced errors in the easy victory. The 28 year old Federer won the match with his serve, scoring 84 percent of the time on his first attempt.
Despite the fact that he is the world's number one player, Federer indicated that there will be more weight resting on Murray's shoulders when the two hook up tomorrow.
"I don't think the pressure's really on me having to do it again, because I did it before," said the three time Aussie Open champion. "I think he really needs it more than I do, you know. So I think the pressure's big on him."
Andy Murray continued his torrid play on Thursday, winning a four set match 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-2 over an exhausted Marin Cilic. Murray hit fewer winners than did the Croatian (35 to 40), but he also had far fewer errant shots as Cilic committed 54 unforced errors to the Brit's 29. The 22 year old Murray, like Federer, also dominated with his service game, scoring a 76 percent win percentage on his first serve.
Murray, who has 14 career titles and a 6-4 record against Federer, knows that he will need to continue to be at his best in order to overcome the Swiss native at a Grand Slam.
"It will take a special performance to win against [Federer]," Murray said. "But I feel like I can do that."
