Sixth seeded Andy Roddick only needed 90 minutes to beat the 2008 Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic. Roddick was listed as +200 underdog and he proved the cappers wrong. Andy’s’ serve proved useful as he blew serve after serve past Djokovic, it was too much to handle. Andy was down 3-1 in the first and he managed to break back to force a tie break. Andy produced two big serves which all but sealed the deal. In the second set Andy was cool and calm as he took a commanding 5-3 lead. All he had to do now was to serve out the match which he did in blistering fashion.
He now faces 2004 finalist Feliciano Lopez, who went on to beat Nikolay Davydenko 6-4 4-6 7-5 as a +165 underdog. Everyone expected Davydenko to roll over Lopez, but the underdog pulled through. Lopez fought back hard after falling down 3-1 in the first to force the tie breaker. Lopez was left serving for the first set in which he gladly won. After losing the second set and dropping 5-2 in the third, Lopez made one of the greatest comebacks in the tournaments history. Davydenko made mistake after mistake and eventually handed over the win to Lopez. Get your ATP Tennis Pick in now!
Roddick uses his powerful forehands and accurate first serves. His first serve is known to some as the "Roddick Serve". He recorded the fastest serve of this tournament, serving 249kph. His coach, Jimmy Connors, has left Roddicks camp as he feels Andy no longer needs him. Feliciano Lopez is a very speedy player who can get from either side of the court in a flash.
