2011 French Open Odds Men’s

The official start of the season's second major is less than a week away as the top players in the world descend upon the clay courts of Roland-Garros for the 2011 French Open. The action is scheduled to begin on Sunday, May 22nd in Paris, France as Spaniard Rafael Nadal begins his quest for a 10th Grand Slam title. Not surprisingly, Nadal is the current favorite to win the men's portion of the event in the opening 2011 French Open Odds .

Rafael Nadal, the ATP's top ranked player, has recorded five of his nine major victories on the clay at Roland Garros. He 2011 French Open Odds Men'swon his first Grand Slam there in 2005, and he successfully defended his title in Paris until a balky knee ended his run at four in 2009. Nadal returned to his accustomed place last year, though, defeating Robin Soderling 6-4, 6-2, 6-4 in the final to capture his fifth French Open crown.

While Nadal's knee temporarily ended his dominance at Roland Garros in 2009, it may be a player with the chops to ouster the Spaniard on clay that does it this year. Novak Djokovic, who won his second career major at the Australian Open in January, has been unbeatable this season, going a perfect 38-0 in match play.

Djokovic, who owns the No. 2 spot in the ATP's men's singles rankings, has been an impossible mission this year for all comers on all surfaces, including Nadal. The Serbian great's last three tournaments, Belgrade, Madrid, and Rome, all took place on clay, and he won the final at each in straight sets, upending Feliciano Lopez once and Nadal twice.

Djokovic, who is listed at +125 moneyline odds to win at Roland Garros, represents Nadal's first serious threat at Paris — and that includes Roger Federer — since the Mallorca native burst on the scene there in 2005.
