Maria Sharapova survived another mistake filled match to make it to the quarterfinals of the French Open for the fourth time in six years. Sharapova, currently ranked 102 in the world, had four aces to eight double faults and 33 unforced errors to 17 winners. Still, her ability carried her through a horrendous second set and onto the next round of Roland Garros action.
Sharapova, who has played four consecutive three set matches, indicated that she is holding up fine, despite being out of action for most of the year.

Dominika Cibulkova, who is ranked 19th in the world, made it to the quarterfinals at the Roland Garros for the first time in her career. The 20 year old Slovokian won her third consecutive straight sets match, beating Agnes Szavay 6-2, 6-4 in yesterday's fourth round action.
