Juan Martin Del Potro made it to his third straight Grand Slam quaterfinal by beating the ninth ranked Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France in four sets 6-1, 6-7, 6-1, 6-4. Del Potro had just 22 unforced errors to Tsonga's 41. He also had nine aces and 30 winners while taking advantage of the Frenchman's inability to get his first serve in play (54 percent).

Robredo's victory assurded him his fourth career appearance in the French Open quarterfinals. The world's 17th ranked player had 43 winners against Kohlschreiber and he had an 84 percent first serve win percentage.
Robredo's mastery of the serve was not lost on the Spaniard, and he credited it for carrying him through the match.
"The key of the match was my serve," Robredo said. "I served very well. I managed to win many games, thanks to my serve."
