2010 French Open: Francesca Schiavone vs Elena Dementieva Betting Odds: Tomorrow's second women's singles semifinals match will feature fifth ranked Elena Dementieva versus 17th ranked Francesca Schiavone. The two will meet on the Philippe Chatrier Court at approximately 7:00am ET for a chance to participate in Saturday's championship match. 2010 French Open Betting Odds at Bodog.com have both players listed at -110 moneyline odds.
Italy's Francesca Schiavone reached the semifinal round at a major for the first time in her career with a 6-2, 6-3 win over
Denmark's Caroline Wozniacki. The 29 year old Schiavone, who turned pro in 1998, scored 25 winners to Wozniacki's 10 in the lopsided affair. The victory, which was Schiavone's fourth consecutive in straight sets, also saw the Italian dominate the second serve, winning at a 59 percent clip compared to Wozniacki's 23.
Elena Dementieva, who was runner-up in the 2004 French Open, overcame fellow Russian Nadia Petrova 2-6, 6-2, 6-0 to reach tomorrow's semifinals. Dementieva was not at her best as the match statisitcs were fairly even across the board; however, she did outperform her competition in break point conversions. The Moscow native scored on six of her 10 opportunities while Petrova won just 3-of-11 for a horrible 27 percent.
Tomorrow will mark the 11th meeting between Schiavone and Dementiva. The Russian has got the better of things thus far, scoring a 6-4 edge in their previous 10 matches. The pair last squared off in Sydney earlier this year with Dementieva getting a 6-2, 7-5 victory.
