Rafael Nadal reclaimed the world's top ranking earlier this month by securing his fifth French Open crown. Nadal set the table for his jump back to the top spot by winning 
three consecutive tournaments prior to his successful turn at Roland Garros, which also served to make him the hottest player on tour coming into the Wimbledon Championships.
Rafa did, however, fall short of the finals in his last event, losing 6-7 (5), 4-6 in the quarterfinals to Feliciano Lopez at the Queen's Club in London. Nevertheless, the Spaniard is 40-5 on the year and has earned over $3.9 million in prize money.
Nadal missed Wimbledon last year due to his balky knees, but he won his first title at the All England Lawn Tennis Club in 2008 and he reached the finals in 2006 and 2007 before losing to defending champion Roger Federer.
Kei Nishikori will make his second career appearance at Wimbledon tomorrow when he meets Nadal on Centre Court. The Shimane, Japan native, who currently resides in Bradenton, Floirda, was ousted in the first round of action back in 2008.
The 20 year old Nishikori comes into Tuesday's proceedings with a 1-4 record this year after losing to Russian Andrey Kuznetsov in the round of 32 at last weekend's AEGON International in Eastbourne, Great Britain.
Tomorrow's meeting between Nishikori and Nadal will mark the first time that the two players have faced each other. Despite his 189th ranking, Nishikori can count on a game Nadal, especially after Federer's near disaster this morning against Columbia's Alejandro Fallo.
