Andy Roddick, the ATP's seventh ranked men's singles player, had an easy enough time in his opening round match with 
fellow American Rajeev Ram. The Omaha, Nebraska native won in straight sets 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 after blasting 13 aces and 49 winners. The 27 year old also landed 73 percent of his high powered first serves in bounds while Ram managed to find the zone just 57 percent of the time on his first go.
Roddick, the fifth seed at this year's Championships, has advanced to the third round of play in eight of his nine career appearances at Wimbledon. He has reached the final at the All England Lawn Tennis Club three times, including last year when he fell to Roger Federer 7-5, 6-7 (6), 6-7 (5), 6-3, 14-16 in the championship match.
France's Michael Llodra (37th in the ATP's rankings) had a little more difficulty in his first round match with Jesse Witten as he beat the American 6-4, 6-4, 6-7 (7), 6-3. Llodra had 73 winners and 33 unforced errors compared to Witten's 66 and 43, respectively. The victory improved Llodra's record to 18-11 on the year and secured his spot in the second round at Wimbledon for the fifth time in 10 appearances at the tournament.
However, Llodra, who is coming off a win at the AEGON International last weekend in Eastbourne, Great Britain, has never advanced past the second round at tennis' presitigious event.
Llodra and Roddick have meet on two other occasions, the last being in 2008, with the American getting the better of things both times.
