"Today, for some reason, I wasn't able to read his serve," Federer said. "That really rattled me. So I had to look for that for a long time. Thank God I found it eventually."
Ilija Bozoljac, who is ranked 152nd in men's singles, needed four sets to get past his first round opponent, Nicolas Massu. The Serbian eventually won 7-6 (7-3), 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (9-7) after serving up 27 aces and hammering 109 winners.
Bozoljac, who is competiting in his second Wimbledon and fifth Grand Slam, had to survive three rounds of qualifying to earn a first round meeting against Massu. He is likely to catch some much needed rest after today as he takes on the top seeded Federer for the first time in his career.
