2009 Wimbledon Odds: Svetlana Kuznetsova, who won the French Open earlier this month, will need to get by Pauline Parmentier in tomorrow's second round at Wimbledon if she hopes to win her second consecutive Grand Slam. Tennis oddsmakers at Bodog.com evidently do not feel that will be an issue for the Russian as she is listed as a -2000 moneyline favorite in their Svetlana Kuznetsova vs Pauline Parmentier 2009 Wimbledon Odds.

Svetlana Kuznetsova improved to 29-8 in match play this year by beating Japanese pro Akiko Morigami in straight sets 6-3, 7-6 on Tuesday. The 23 year old Russian had 35 unforced errors in the match but overcame her sloppiness by connecting on 26 winners.

Kuznetsova, who is playing in her seventh Wimbledon, has been to the quarterfinals at the event four times. She is currently fifth in the WTP rankings and is playing some of the best tennis on tour, having reached the quarterfinals or better in six of the last nine Grand Slams. 

Pauline Parmentier, who hails from Cucq, France, made it to the second round of Wimbledon for the second time in her career (last year was her first foray at the legendary venue) by overcoming Akqul Amanmuradova in three sets 6-4, 1-6, 6-3. The win improved the 23 year old's 2009 match record to 5-10. 

Parmentier, who is 31-39 in her career with two singles titles, has never advanced past the second round in nine Grand Slam appearances.

Kuznetsova and Parmentier are scheduled to begin play at approximately 6:00am CDT tomorrow morning on Court 3.
