Lleyton Hewitt advanced to the third round of play at Wimbledon for a seventh consecutive year on Wednesday by 
defeating Kazakhstan's Evgeny Korolev 6-4, 6-4, 3-0. Hewitt was incredibly efficient in the match, committing just seven unforced errors and winning on 32 of his 37 first serves. Korolev struggled before retiring in the third set as he produced 30 unforced errors and won just eight of his 33 second serve attempts.
The 29 year old Hewitt, who is the 15th seed at this year's Wimbledon Championships, won the event back in 2002, giving him his second career Grand Slam title (2001 US Open). The native of Adelaide, Australia has reached the fourth round or better at Wimbledon the last six years.
Gael Monfils, who is playing at the All England Lawn Tennis Club for the first time since 2007, secured a spot in the third round at Wimbledon for the third time in four career appearances at the tournament. The Paris native overcame Slovakia's Karol Beck 6-4, 6-4, 6-7 (4-7), 6-4 after landing 27 aces and 55 winners.
Monfils, the ATP's 20th ranked men's singles player, has advanced past the third round just six times in 18 Grand Slams; he has never played in the fourth round at Wimbledon.
Monfils and Hewitt has faced each other three times in the past five years, with the Frenchman producing a 2-1 record. The two last met at the Shanghai Rolex Masters in 2009, where Monfils won 4-6, 6-4, 6-2. They have never played each other on a grass surface, though.
