2009 Wimbledon: Serena Williams advanced to the third round of play at Wimbledon for the 10th time and will now face Italian Roberta Vinci at 6:00am CDT tomorrow morning on Court 2. Serena Williams brought her 2009 singles record to 27-7 on Wednesday by beating Australian Jarmila Groth in straight sets 6-2, 6-1. Williams had six unforced errors to Groth's 24 and just three double faults to the Aussie's 10.

The 27 year old Williams indicated she was pleased with her performance, but also cited that she could definitely step up her game.

"I thought I played really well," Williams said. "I knew she was gonna be tough, so I was like, okay, I have to be ready for the match. [But] for me there's always room for improvement...I still think I could have returned better, came to the net a little bit more. That's exciting to think that I can do better."

Roberta Vinci advanced to the third round at Wimbledon for the second time as she overcame 31st ranked Anastasia Pavyuchenkova in straight sets 6-4, 7-6. Vinci committed 22 unforced errors to the Russian's 32 to help secure the win.

The 26 year old, who is playing in her 19th Grand Slam, has never been past the third round in a major. However, Vinci could potentially pose a challenge to the superior Williams. The Taranto native is playing well this year, sporting a 22-14 singles record and a singles title, which she earned at Barcelona in April.
