Marat Safin mostly known for his outrageous temper beat Djokovic 6-4, 7-6 (7-3), 6-2. This match was keenly anticipated because it was one of those super-charismatic second round encounters that a Grand Slam draw can occasionally yield. These two had met only once before at the 2005Australian Open, which Safin handed his opponent a big loss. Safin, whose ranking has been in decline for the past three years, turned back the clock and played like the champion of old. Safin now has the test of getting by Andreas Seppi whom he has yet to play against. Safin is 10-13 this year with no titles. Safin was 2000 U.S. Open Champ and 2005 Australian Open winner. He was defeated in the second round at both the 2008 Australian Open and 2008 French Open. Safin is known for his emotional outbursts during matches, and has smashed numerous rackets. Safin is estimated to have smashed 48 racquets in 1999. He frequently verbally berates himself for lost points, speaking in the languages of Russian, Spanish and English. He is also known for having arguments with the chair umpires. His temper can get the best of him and it has cost him numerous matches.

His opponent Andreas Seppi was taken to five sets by Florent Serra but still managed to win 6-3, 6-7, 6-2, 6-7, 6-4. Seppi is 19-17 this year with no titles. The 2008 season has been good to Seppi, he won his first Challenger title at Bergamo where he defeated Julien Benneteau. He made the quarter finals of the indoor event in Rotterdam where he defeated Lleyton Hewitt. Then he scored his biggest win over current world number 2 Rafael Nadal. In his last three Wimbledons enetered he has not made it past the second round. At the 2008 Australian Open he lost in the second round and at the 2008 French Open he lost in the first round.

The Bottom Line: It depends on Safins temper, if he starts to lose and he freaks out his game will go down the toilet.Seppi is a hard court and clay court player who has beaten some great players in the past. I'm leaning towards the underdog here.  Get your Marat Safin vs Andreas Seppi Wimbledon 2008 Prediction in now at Sportsbetting.com and receive a 10% sign-up bonus on your initial deposit!
