2009 Wimbledon Odds: Dinara Safina advanced to tomorrow's third round of action at Wimbledon in an attempt to win her first career Grand Slam title. Safina, the top-ranked women's singles player, survived a game Rossana De Los Rios in the second round to earn a match with her friend, Kristen Flipkens, on Saturday morning. Dinara Safina has not been as sharp at Wimbledon as she was in the early rounds of the French Open, but the Russian native is most likely concerned with wins. Thus far she has managed two, getting her second yesterday in straight sets over De Los Rios 6-3, 7-5. Safina had six aces and came up with 27 winners to seal the win.

Safina, who has never made out of the third round at Wimbledon, has been the runner up in three of the last five tennis majors. Despite her prowess, her previous record at Wimbledon has her taking the lesser Flipkens seriously.

"She's a great player...she [just] beat a good player," Safina said. "[You cannot look past anyone], especially somebody in the third round. I just have to go out there, play my game, play aggressive and let's see who's gonna be stronger."

Kristen Flipkens, who hails from Geel, Belgium, garnered her fifth match win this year by beating Great Britain's Elena Baltacha 7-5, 6-1 on Thursday. The 23 year old Flipkens, who is playing in just her seventh Grand Slam, will be playing in her first third round at a major when she squares off against Safina tomorrow. 

Safina and Flipkens are set to begin play at 6:00am CDT tomorrow morning.
