Rafael Nadal needed four sets to get by his fellow French Open finalist Robin Soderling on Wednesday as he beat the 
Swede 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-4), 6-1 to advance to the Wimbledon semifinals for a fourth time. Nadal abused Soderling's second serve, winning 26 of the 42 sent his way. He also played smart tennis by running into just 12 unforced errors. The same could not be said for Soderling, who had six double faults and 35 unforced errors in the match.
Nadal nows finds himself just a match away from the finals, but standing in his way is the fourth ranked Murray. The Spaniard owns a 7-3 record against the lanky Englishman; however, he did fall to Murray in their last meeting, which came in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open.
Nadal indicated things are a little different now than they were in January in Melbourne.
"Maybe the only thing I had a mistake in that moment was to stay a little bit more calm," Nadal said referring to his straight sets loss to Murray in Australia. "And that confidence I have now because I won a lot of matches the last few months."
Andy Murray reached his second consecutive Wimbledon semifinal by dispatching France's Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 6-7 (7-5), 7-6 (7-5), 6-2, 6-2. The 23 year old Murray, like Nadal, took advantage of his opponents mistakes as Tsonga finished up with 37 unforced errors and eight double faults. Despite Tsonga's miscues, the match was Murray's first non-straight sets victory of the tournament.
If he is to beat Nadal, he may again be looking at four or more sets to do so. Regardless of the match length, Murray feels he knows the formula for overcoming the ATP's top-ranked player.
"You've got to serve well and…keep a good length and play well…really, really, really well," Murray said.
