He fired 78 winners along with a record high 43 aces. This is Roddicks first Wimbledon Semi-final appearance since 2005 and he’ll be playing Andy Murray for the ninth time. "Andy has been playing great," said Roddick, ahead of the pair's ninth meeting. "He's certainly kind of come into his own as a player. With my serve, I can give myself a chance in any match. I've been in this situation many times. I'm not gonna predict anything. I'm going to have to play well." Roddick, 26, is through to the semi-finals for the fourth time in nine appearances at the All England Club. He has fired an average 27.8 aces per match (139 aces overall) in five matches at the grass-court Grand Slam championship. He has held 95 of 103 service games, saved 10 of 18 break points and converted 16 of 54 break point opportunities. The Texas resident finished runner-up to Federer in 2004 and 2005. He is one of three active players (Federer-180 and Lleyton Hewitt-124) to register at least 100 Grand Slam championship match wins (103-32). Roddick, who has a 38-8 record on the season, highlighted by one title at the Regions Morgan Keegan Championships (d. Stepanek), will be attempting to reach his fifth major final (1-3 record). Andy Murray wasted no time beating Juan Carlos Ferrero, in the quarter finals, winning 7-5, 6-3, 6-2 in one hour and 43 minutes on Centre Court Wednesday. Murray got his 200th win and his 10th straight overall since he won 2009 AEGON Championship three weeks ago. After his match against Ferrero Murray stated "I felt fine, I slipped once on the court, but apart from that I was not stiff at all from the match before. The court today was playing very quick, so not that many long rallies, which was nice." Murray leads Roddick 6-2 overall throughout their careers and has won their last two matches. He beat Roddick at the 2009 Qatar ExxonMobil Open 6-4, 6-2 and at the 2008 Barclays ATP World Tour Finals 6-4, 1-6, 6-1. Seven of their meetings have come on hard courts and their lone grass-court match was at The Championships in 2006, when Murray prevailed 7-6(4), 6-4, 6-4 in the third round. The 22-year-old Murray is attempting to become the first British man to advance to The Championships final since Bunny Austin lost to Don Budge during the American’s ‘Grand Slam’ year of 1938. The last British man to capture the title was Fred Perry in 1936. 2009 Wimbledon Semi-final: Andy Murray vs Andy Roddick When: Fri, July 3, 2009 7:00 AM ET Line: Bodog.com Pick: Roddick +250 Point-Spreads.com 2009 Wimbledon Semi-final: Andy Murray vs Andy Roddick The Bottom Line: Murray was pushed to the max against Ferrero who is not at the level of play that Roddick is at.
