Serena Williams finds herself in familiar territory after beating Petra Kvitova 7-6 (7-5), 6-2 in Wednesday's semifinals. The 
28 year old advanced to her third consecutive Wimbledon finals with the victory, which was dictated by Williams dominant serve. The Michigan native won 37 of her 48 first serves while Kvitova managed to win just 27 of her 43. The straight sets victory was Williams sixth of the tournament.
Williams, who is chasing her fourth Wimbledon crown and 13th Grand Slam title, has a 5-2 career record against Zvonareva, but her past success against the Russian has not made her overconfident heading into the final.
"She does everything good," Williams said in regard to the 21st ranked Moscow native. "It's tough playing a player like that who doesn't really have one weakness. She never gives up."
Vera Zvonareva reached her first ever Grand Slam final with a three set victory over Bulgaria's Tsvetana Pironkova in the semifinals. Zvonareva dropped the first set 3-6 but rallied on the strength of her second serve (won 17-of-25) to win the final two sets 6-3, 6-2, respectively. For the match, the 25 year old Zvonareva hit 31 winners and committed just 13 unforced errors.
Zvonareva, who is 27-10 this year, is conducting herself as though she has been to this stage many times before; her confidence is certainly not lacking, anyway, even with the top ranked Williams on the horizon.
"I know if I play my best tennis I can beat anyone on the other side of the net," Zvonareva said. "That's what I'm gonna try to do on Saturday."
