Tim Henman says that targeting the UK’s stars of the future will help ensure more success for the British players at Wimbledon. Henman’s crushing five set loss to Feliciano Lopez in the second round ensured Britain would not have a representative in the third round of Wimbledon for the first time in 17 years.Henman fought his way back from two sets down against the Spanish former quarter-finalist but could not close out the match, eventually going down 7-6 7-6 3-6 2-6 6-1. At 32 years old, his best tennis days are behind him, but after another gutsy performance following his first-round epic against Carlos Moya, he has no intention of calling it a day. "We have to wipe the slate clean and start targeting the younger ones because that is our future," stated Tim Henman. "I will reflect on the two matches I've played. That is the tennis I want to play more regularly. There's no reason why I can't do that. I'm not going to play forever, but I'm passionate about what I do. I love what I do. I want to make the most of it." 6:00 AM EST Jonas Bjorkman: -275 Wayne Arthurs: +195 6:00 AM EST Nikolay Davydenko: +120 Gael Monfils: -160 6:00 AM EST Mikhail Youzhny: -180 Jarkko Nieminen: +130 6:00 AM EST David Nalbandian: -115 Marcos Baghdatis: -115 7:00 AM EST Nicolas Kiefer: +325 Novak Djokovic: -500 7:00 AM EST Tomas Berdych: -1000 Hyung-Taik Lee: +500 10:15 AM EST Lleyton Hewitt: -340 Guillermo Canas: +220 |
