The number two ranked Wake Forest Demon Deacons have made the short track to Clemson, South Carolina for an afternoon battle with the 10th ranked Tigers. The game is scheduled to get under way at 3:30pm ET at Littlejohn Coliseum and will be televised on ABC. NCAA Basketball Picks at BetUS.com have Clemson listed as -2 against the spread home favorite.
The Demon Deacons enter this ACC tilt with a spotless 15-0 overall record and a 2-0 conference mark. They scored a huge conference win this past week when they upset the previously top ranked Tar Heels 92-89 at the Lawrence Joel Coliseum on January 11th. Wake followed that victory up with a blowout 83-63 triumph at Boston College, getting them off to a wonderful start in conference action.
Dino Gaudio's team has the fourth ranked scoring offense in the nation, averaging 85.5 points per game. They also hit the glass hard, again, ranking fourth nationally at 43.1 per game.
Clemson, also sporting an unblemished record at 16-0, is 2-0 in conference play as well. The Tigers defeated Miami 91-72 on December 21st and they dispatched North Carolina State 63-51 in their last outing on January 10th. Clemson's stifling defense held the Wolpack to just 31.5 percent shooting from the field and they also forced 18 North Carolina State turnovers.
The Tigers know how to score the ball too, averaging 80.4 points per game, but they rely mostly on their ability to shut teams down. Oliver Purnell's team has held the opposition to a paltry 56.6 points per game at Littlejohn Coliseum this season.
