Connecticut vaulted to the number one ranking last weekend after beating Louisville 68-51 in Kentucky. The big win extended the Huskies current win streak to 10 games, and moved their Big East conference record to 10-1. Jim Calhoun's squad also moved to the top spot in the Big East standings when Marquette fell 56-57 to South Florida. The Golden Eagles were undefeated in conference play until the Bulls upset them on Friday night.

UConn, now 21-1 overall, held the fifth ranked Cardinals to 34 percent shooting from the field on Monday night and an even worse 29 percent from three point range. Center Hasheem Thabeet led the Huskies winning effort with 14 points, 11 rebounds, and four blocked shots.

Connecticut is 9-1 at home this season and they are averaging 78.6 points per game along with 7.3 blocks and 41.1 rebounds per contest. They also play a tough brand of defense, as evidenced by their 61.3 points per game allowed average.

Michigan started the year by going 13-3, scoring big wins over UCLA, Duke, and Illinois in the process. However, their last seven games have been mostly forgettable. Their lone wins in that stretch have come against Northwestern and Penn State. The collapse has resulted in a 5-6 record in conference play and a 15-8 overall mark.

The Wolverines did get a victory in their last outing, a 71-51 shellacking of the Nittany Lions on Thursday night. Manny Harris led Michigan with 28 points, six rebounds, seven assists, and two steals. Michigan's defense, which is holding opponents to an average of 63.1 points per game, also stepped up big, limiting Penn State to just 33 percent from the field.

Michigan is 1-5 on the road this year and they are 1-6-1 against the spread away from Crisler Arena.
