Texas is in College Station this evening for a showdown with conference and in-state rival, Texas A&M. The Aggies and the Longhorns are set tip things off at 9:00pm ET at Reed Arena and the game will be broadcast live on ESPN. Texas vs Texas A&M Free College Basketball Picks at SBGglobal.com have Texas listed as a slim -1.5 road favorite. The Longhorns have won two straight games coming into tonight's contest, but it would be a misnomer to declare them a surging team. Prior to their back-to-back victories over Oklahoma State and Colorado, they had lost three games in a row, falling victim to Kansas State, Missouri, and Nebraska. Rick Barnes troops thrashed the Cowboys 99-74 to emphatically put an end to their conference skid, but they squeaked by the lowly Buffaloes 85-76 in overtime at the Coors Events Center in Boulder. Guards A.J. Abrams and Damion Jones proved to be the difference against Colorado, combining for 50 of the team's 85 points. Jones also added 12 defensive rebounds while Abrams contributed three steals. Despite the rough patch, the Longhorns are still in contention for a spot in the NCAA Tournament, but they have plenty of work to do. Their 6-4 Big 12 record (fourth place) and 17-7 overall mark have them firmly planted on the bubble. Texas is 4-4 on the road this season and they average 69.6 points per game away from the Frank Erwin Center, while giving up 67 per game to host squads. Texas A&M, like the Longhorns, has been doomed by their play in conference. The Aggies were 14-1 entering Big 12 action, but a 3-7 record against their conference brethren has dropped them to 17-8 overall. Texas A&M has won just two of their last eight games (all against Big 12 schools) and they have lost three games in a row headed into tonight's dust up with the Longhorns. The Aggies latest poor showing took place on Saturday evening when they fell 68-72 to the Baylor Bears at the Ferrell Center in Waco, Texas. A&M outrebounded the Bears 32-19, but they allowed Scott Drew's team to hit 56.3 percent of their field goal attempts. Josh Carter, the Aggies leading scorer at 13.3 per game, scored 20 points in the close loss. Mark Turgeon's squad is 14-3 at Reed Arena this year; they average 71.1 points per game there and they give up an average of 61.5 to visiting schools. SBGglobal.com's Texas vs Texas A&M Free College Basketball Picks: Texas Longhorns -1.5 (-110), Over 131.5 (-110), -125 (Moneyline) Texas A&M Aggies +1.5 (-110), Under 131.5 (-110), +105 (Moneyline) College Basketball Betting Trend: Texas is 0-6 against the spread in their last six games with the Aggies. The Under is 8-1 in A&M's last 9 games as a home underdog. |
