The Syracuse Orange and the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks will square off against each other on Friday in a South Region battle in Miami. The game is scheduled for a 12:15pm ET tip off at the American Airlines Arena. The winner of the three versus 14 seed contest will move on to face either Arizona State or Temple. S.F. Austin earned their first ever NCAA Tournament appearance this year by winning the Southland Conference championship on March 15th. The Lumberjacks defeated Texas-San Antonio 68-57 in the finale to get an automatic Big Dance bid. S.F. Austin also won the regular season Southland title by going 13-3 in league play and 24-7 overall. The Lumberjacks, who are 5-0 in neutral site games this year, have limited their opposition to an average of 56 points per game. SFA, winners of eight straight games, are currently listed at 425 to 1 odds to win the South Region. Center Matt Kingsley leds the team with a 16.2 point per game average. Syracuse had a difficult stretch in conference this season but they more than worked things out as the year came to a close. The Orange, who finished the season in sixth place in the Big East with an 11-7 conference record, won eight of their last 10 games in route to a 26-9 overall record. Jim Boeheim's squad fought their way to a championship game appearance in the Big East tournament last week, but they were unable to get past Louisville, losing by a score of 66-76. The Orange, which are listed at 4 to 1 odds to win the South Region, averaged 81.1 points per game this year. The Cuse had five players average double figures in scoring, led by guard Jonny Flynn. Flynn hit for 17.5 per game while dishing out 6.7 assists per contest. Syracuse is 5-2 in neutral site games this season. Bodoglife.com's S.F.
