The  four seed Washington Huskies out of the Pac-10 conference will meet the Big 10's Purdue Boilermakers today at 5:40pm ET. The West Region showdown will be played at the Rose Garden in Portland, Oregon. The winner will advance to take on either the UConn Huskies or the Texas A&M Aggies in Glendale, Arizona.

Purdue survived a close game with Northern Iowa on Thursday, winning 61-56 to move on to the round of 32. The Boilermakers, who have now won four games in a row, are 26-9 on the year and 5-1 in neutral site contests. They are averaging 69.1 points per game while giving up just 59 to their opposition.

Matt Painter's team had just two players in double figures against the Panthers, but their defense held Northern Iowa to 37 percent from the field and 7-of-22 from three point range. Offensively the Boilermakers leaned on guard E'Twaun Moore and the sophomore came through with 17 points. As a team Purdue hit 16-of-22 from the charity stripe.

Washington handled Mississippi State with relative ease in their first round game, besting the Bulldogs 71-58 in Portland. The victory was the Huskies seventh in their last eight games and it moved their record to 26-8 on the season. Washington is now 2-2 in neutral site outings.

The Huskies did little from the perimeter in overcoming Mississippi State as they connected on just 2 of their 10 three point attempts; however, Washington's big men had their way in the paint. Forwards Quincy Pondexter and Jon Brockman neutralized and dominated the Bulldogs Jarvis Varnado, holding him to just seven points and three rebounds, while producing 33 points and 22 rebounds of their own.
