 Antonella Barba is proof that there’s no such thing as bad publicity. Barba has been voted through to the next round of American Idol. What is America thinking?
Many people thought the New Jersey native would be voted off the show after mostly negative reviews for her performance of Celine Dion’s “Because You Love Me,” she destroyed it. Not to mention the scandalous photographs of Antonella Barba surfaced on the internet last week. It must have been those racy pictures that saved her!
Antonella Barba became the most googled woman on earth last week. Topless pictures of the 20-year-old emerged as well as alleged fellatio photos. Barba’s best friend, Amanda Coluccio, who also auditioned for American Idol, said the less graphic photos are of Antonella Barba, but denied she is the one pictured in the pornographic ones. BetUS.com has posted betting odds at -2000 that the nude online photos are really of Barba.
American Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe said Barba will not be disqualified for the photographs.
"Antonella is about her looks and her talent and that's the only thing that will affect her journey on American Idol," he said. BetUs.com has posted betting odds at -1400 that the photos will result in Antonella Barba’s expulsion from American Idol.
Simon Cowell also came to Antonella’s defense. “I think it's disgraceful that so-called friends would sell these pictures," Cowell told PEOPLE. ”It’s private property. I really, really have a problem with that – big problem."
It definitely wasn’t her singing that got Barba through to next week. It was the millions of the votes from teenage boys.
According to Ryan Seacrest, more than 32 million votes were received this week. America decided to send home Nick Pedro, AJ Tabaldo, Alaina Alexander and Leslie Hunt.
American Idol continues next week with the “Top 8 Boys” performing Tuesday, the “Top 8 Girls” performing Wednesday and the live “Result Show” on Thursday. Four more contestants will be sent home next week.
