American Idol: Oddsmakers had it right, Gina Glocksen goes, and think Phil Stacey is next PDF Print E-mail

Oddsmakers at offshore sportsbook Bookmaker.com had it right predicting Gina Glocksen as the odds on favorite to get the axe from American Idol on Wednesday’s show. When I first saw that Glocksen, who incidentally was one of my favorite contestants, was most likely to be canned from the show I thought, “no way.” After all, I had the girl in my top five. How can they do this? And these were my thoughts before she was cut.

Now that she’s gone, its time to set our sights on next weeks show and speculate who, of the remaining eight, will be sent home. It didn’t take oddsmakers long to come up with the juice on whom probably goes and who stays.

Haley Scarnato and Phil Stacey had the next lowest vote count on Wednesday, stood with Glocksen on stage as the bottom three. Then Phil was told to sit down leaving Glocksen and Scarnato alone on center stage.

I predicted two weeks ago that Scarnato would go but from the looks of it, those gorgeous legs kept her in the show. At least something kept her in because we know it wasn’t talent.

In spite of her being the last survivor of the nine contestants, oddsmakers have earmarked Phil Stacey as the odds on favorite to get canned from next weeks elimination show with +125 odds. Again, I will explain for you non-gamblers; if Stacey is canned and you make a $100 bet you will win $125 dollars. Oddsmakers were so sure Glocksen would get eliminated from last nights show, they had her at -150 odds. That means the price of a bet to win $100 would cost you $150. It’s a good thing for those of you who took that bet, the oddsmakers were right.

Scarnato, who last week was expected to be retained at +375 odds , narrowly missed the cut in what would have been a pricey loss had she lost the vote. Oddsmakers expect her to make the bottom two next week with +165 odds. Rounding out the Bookmaker.com bottom three is Chris Richardson nasally singing boy band wannabe at +265.

So where is Sanjaya Malakar in this world of betting and odds making? As Simon Cowell said a week ago, Sanjaya is in his own world. But oddsmakers put a big separation between Sanjaya at +850 in fifth place and the bottom three.

Melinda Doolittle , to the surprise of no one is least likely to be eliminated next week with +8000 odds while Jordin Sparks is second least likely to be eliminated at +2500 followed by Blake Lewis at +1500 and Lakisha Jones at +1000.
