When it comes to Super Bowl MVP, quarterbacks are king. So it should come as no surprise that the two favorites to earn the honor at Super Bowl 50 are Cam Newton and Peyton Manning. Bovada’s latest Super Bowl MVP Odds 2016 have Newton at -130 odds ($130 wins $100) to claim the much coveted prize while Manning is coming in at +275 odds ($100 wins $275).

Newton, the front-runner to win league MVP honors, has put together a brilliant season and he enters Sunday’s game riding a wave of positive momentum. The fifth year pro, who threw for 3837 yards and 35 touchdowns in 16 regular season games, produced a 114.4 passer rating over the Panthers last nine games (including Carolina’s two playoff wins) and he threw 23 touchdowns to just one interception during that same stretch of games.

Manning, no doubt, ranks second on Bovada’s Super Bowl MVP list based on his career exploits and the propensity for quarterbacks to win the award (27 times, which is 20 more than the next closest position … you guessed it, running back). It certainly has little to do with his performance this season.

The five-time NFL MVP and one-time Super Bowl MVP, suffered through the worst season of his career, throwing for 2249 yards, nine touchdowns and 17 interceptions while piecing together an ugly 67.9 passer rating in 10 games.

Manning did, however, avoid turning the ball over in Denver’s playoff wins over Pittsburgh and New England. He also logged two touchdown passes and 398 passing yards in mostly observing the Broncos defense carry the team past the Steelers and Patriots.

Third on the MVP list is Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly at +1400 odds. Should Kuechly, the 2013 NFL Defensive Player of the Year winner, lasso the award, he would become the fourth linebacker to do so, joining Chuck Howley (1971), Ray Lewis (2001) and Malcolm Smith (2014).
